Challenge 72! It's a Stripey Kind of Day!!

Good morning everyone and I sincerely hope it is a good one for you! By the time you read this, I will be on my way to Florida. Yippee!! Vacation time and I'm ready for it. Mostly I'm ready to get away from this cold and still wintry weather. I can't believe we still have snow on the ground here in S.W. Ontario!!

Okay, so our dear, delightful and Divine Donna, (I mean it, look at her work) has challenged us to use stripes on our card someway, somehow! Not too difficult, right? I mean, we can come up with some kind of stripes, whether it's in our patterned paper, in our ribbon or other embellies. I'm sure folks will come up with much more original ideas than mine. Anyway, make sure you participate and link your creation up to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog and you could be the lucky random winner of the stamp Donna is using this week. I'm not sure what it is, but you will be able to see it by the time you read this.

I used Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp Richie for my card and I paper pieced his outfit using stripey paper for his pants and some matching paper for his jacket. The papers I used are from Basic Grey and are called Max and Whiskers. I used some yummy new Early Espresso cardstock for the card base and I used the same brown for the outer frame of the image layer. The inside layer is Tangerine Tango, which I am finding works with a lot of my papers and the other cardstock is Baja Breeze, another 'go to' colour I don't know what I'd do without!! It is a fairly simple layout and I just added two dark brown buttons on the upper right and the sentiment 'You're Nifty' punched out with a tag punch, also in T. Tango. Richie was of course coloured with my trusty Copics and that's it. Finished.

Now we would like to see what you have for us. I'm sure you will inspire us as always. Anyway, it's an excuse to make another card, right? As if we need one. I'm really looking forward to getting away, but what am I going to do without making cards? Oh well, I'll have to survive and pine away in the Florida sunshine instead, ha ha!!

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you have some lovely sunny weather where you are.

Blessings,
Diana

Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge 71! Use Spring colours.

Well, hello everyone and Happy Spring to you. Mind you, spring has really not arrived here in S.W. Ontario. We had some more snow a couple of days ago and the temp is still in the minuses.

I think mine is going to be a pretty short post this morning as I seem to be coming down with something not nice. Aches and fatigue, headache etc. I'm hoping it's only going to be a cold! Maybe I caught a virus from the computer!! He He!! Well, I am quickly going to post my Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps cards.

Anyway, as the title says, Andrea, who is our hostess for this challenge, wants us to use spring colours on our cards. My first one uses the adorable Springtime Bunnies from the February 2011 release, which are perfect for this. I used the sentiment Hoppy Birthday from Kraftin' Kimmie's Fun Sentiments.

My second card uses Springtime Maisie, another perfect choice for a spring card. The sentiment on this card is found in Kraftin' Kimmie's Everyday Sentiments. Well, that's it from me, I'm afraid I really need to go back to bed.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and Happy Stamping.

Blessings,
Diana

Time for Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge 70!

Well, hello again and as the title says, it's time for yet another Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge.
This week our extremely Krafty Krista is the hostess and she would like us all to use buttons as the main embellishments on our cards. Not too difficult, right? Well, unless you don't have any buttons. If not, you may have to cut some off your shirt or sweater or your hubbie's best slacks!! Ha Ha!! No, really, don't do that. Krista has used Becky Broadsword on her card, so that's the stamp you will win if your card is randomly chosen.

Anyway, I wanted to use Cap'n Charlie for my card. I had decided that I wanted to use this DP of the constellations for my background as I don't have anything really piratey like a treasure map or the like. Since pirates used to sail by the stars, I thought I could use this. So I used a card base of Vanilla and glued my starry paper to it. Then I punched out 4 squares from some more matching paper from my DCWV Natural Stack and 4 scalloped squares of Vanilla with my Mega punches. I spaced them evenly on the background, then placed some matching buttons on, which I had threaded with some copper wire. Then I placed Cap'n Charlie off on an angle in the centre. I had coloured him with my Copics, torn the edges, then used some copper embossing powder on the edges.

So that's my Cap'n Charlie button card, now we would like to see your creations. If you use a Kraftin Kimmie Stamp, you will be in the running to win Becky Broadsword.

Have fun and we'll see you next week.

Blessings,
Diana

These stamps are larger in size than your average sentiment stamps and are perfect as the focal point of your scrappy cards and as an addition to your scrapbook layouts! This month’s set includes quotes from Mother Teresa, L.M. Montgomery, Bette Midler and Lauren Bacall!

Today I'm using one of the wonderful set of Quotes. Very strangely my card ended up pretty much as I pictured it before I started. That almost never happens!! I chose the quote 'Peace Begins With A Smile', from Mother Teresa. I used my Mega Ovals to stamp the quote onto and the paper I used for the background and for the rest of the card, is K & Company Classic. I love it, it's so soft and antique looking. I framed the oval with some Rose Red cardstock cut out with my Scalloped Mega Ovals. I popped it onto some more of the patterned papers and put some ivory lace across the join between the papers. I added some Prima Hydrangea flowrs with some punched leaves among them.

Now, if you have come here from Elaine's fabulous blog, you are in the right spot. From here you need to go to Jeanne's 'Inky Paws'. Don't forget to leave a comment at each blog as you are hopping, that way you will have more chances to win some of the wonderful new stamps. Challenge 69! Do whatever you please!!

Hi all you peeps out there, hope your day is shaping up to be a good one. Today is Saturday, so it's time for yet another Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge! We girls get to use whichever of the new images we like as we've already had a day of showing the work of each artist.

This week our hostess is our fearless leader herself, Kraftin' Kimmie and she's taking it easy on us. We get to use whatever we want to on our cards. Can't be easier than that, right?

I coloured up Becky Broadsword for the Challenge, isn't she a cutie? Can't say I ever wanted to play pirates when I was little, but I was not the tomboy type! I coloured and cut out my image using the square Nesties, then I sponged around the edges with some chalk ink. I then used my Scalloped Square Nesties to make a frame for the square. I used Early Espresso cardstock for this. I can't tell you what the patterned paper is as I've had it so long. I placed a strip of Baja Breeze down the middle after embossing it with Swiss Dots folder. I used the sentiment 'Shiver Me Timbers' from Kimmie's Pirate Sentiments on one of my Double Ended Tags. I attached it with some bronze brads and attached an anchor charm. I matted the patterned paper onto some more E. Espresso and the card base is a lovely shade of Bazzill Bling, but I don't know what it's called. (Don't know much, do I?) I attached it with some bronze brads and attached an anchor charm. I added some larger brads in two of the corners and that's it.

Don't forget to go and check out the rest of the team's cards, the easiest way is to go to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog first. And be sure to come back tomorrow for the March Blog Hop and Release!! We have some awesome Krafty Guests along with our Krafty Team.

See you tomorrow,
Diana

Kraftin' Kimmie Previews Day 3! Meet Angie!!

Well, Hi and Happy Friday to you all. Have you been checking out all the good stuff our Krafty Girls have been posting for your perusal? The new Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps will be up online on Sunday and we are having so much fun with them.

Today we are all showing Annie Rodrigue's new additions to her fabulous line of Moonlight Whispers. I picked Angie as I like the way she looks in the morning. Mind you she looks a whole lot better than I do. I love the sentiment, which comes with this awesome image. I think that was written for me, although as I've got older, I can't sleep in any more. However, I'm still pretty groggy when I get up and I'm still not a morning person. Not my favourite time of day!!

Well, I'm rambling again. I coloured Angie, then matted her onto a Gable Green frame after sponging around the edges of the image layer with some Pale Plum ink, which has long been retired from Stampin' Up. I used some cute papers, which I cannot find now. I've just spent a good 20 minutes looking for them and given up. When I've posted this, I'll probably find them!! I matted the papers onto some pink cardstock and then onto a card base of Perfect Plum. I added a few Prima Flowers, oh, and I used a border punch along the bottom of the mauve patterned paper.

Tomorrow is Challenge Day, so be sure to come back and see what our hostess for this week has for you to do. If you go to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog, you will find links to all the girls blogs.

I'll be back,
Blessings,
Diana

Thursday's Preview for Kraftin' Kimmie's March Release!

Well, here we are again, coming up to another release!! This is my first post for the Previews and Kraftin' Kimmie has outdone herself again.Today we are showing the Steven Leary stamps. For mine, I used Barnacle Brad. Isn't this perfect for a young boy card? Now who doesn't love a cute pirate? Whose son hasn't wanted to be a pirate. I remember making a costume for my son to be a pirate on Hallowe'en. His Dad made him a very cool wooden sword. I still have the pictures and Andrew has a mustache and beard drawn on his little 5 year old face. That was about 32 years ago, so I am really telling my age.

I used some Nutmeg papers, but I forget what brand they are. I can't check as I used some of my DD Kraftin' Kimmie's stash while I've been staying up there! Anyway, the cardstock colours are Chocolate Chip and Tangerine Tango and I used some brown linen thread across the front panel and put a ship's wheel charm on it. (Again compliments of my DD!!) I made a little flag with Ahoy Matey on it, that sentiment comes with the Pirate Sentiments. Just a simple little image for a simple little card.

Okay, so be sure to visit the rest of the Krafty Girls (listed on my sidebar) or hop on over to the KKS challenge blog and see what great things they have come up with and be sure to come back tomorrow and see what other good stuff we have for you. Tomorrow we will be showcasing some images from the awesome Annie Rodrigue collection. You won't be disappointed.

Have a wonderful day and I hope to see you tomorrow.

Blessings,
Diana

Challenge 68. Use twine or floss!!

Well, hello to all you inky people out there. It's Saturday once again and time for Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge 68!!

This week, our very talented hostess is Jeanne and she would like us to use twine or floss or something similar on our cards. Since Jeanne is using Stella Strawberry on her lovely card, that is the stamp that some lucky lady will win.

For my card, I used Curtis. If you can believe it, I had not yet inked him up and he is so cute. Most of the rest of the design team have made lovely cards with him, but I just had not got to him yet. He is so perfect for a masculine card, I think and I never have enough 'guy' cards, so this is one more for my very small collection. I coloured Curtis with my Copics and cut him out using my Deckle Rectangle Nesties. I then mounted the image layer onto some Basic Black cardstock, which I had dry embossed using a folder with bubbly looking circles on it. I can't remember the name of it and I threw away the package long ago!! Unfortunately you can't see it in the picture anyway!! I used some Olivia papers from Basic Grey. I used a panel of the paper across the front, matted it onto some black, then tied some of the required twine across it. I matted it all onto some more black and set it on a card base of Kiwi Kiss. I used some dew drop sort of thingies down the right side and added the sentiment 'Best Fishes'

So now it's your turn to make a card or creation using twine or something similar on your card and see if you can win Stella Strawberry! Don't forget to link your card up to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog.

I do hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,

Diana

ABC Challenge! Use your pinks!!

Well, good day all you stamping folks out there. I used to say ladies, but that was before I started to find a few awesome fellas out there who like to stamp. Who knew?!!

Well, today I am posting a card for the ABC challenge, which is to use pink on your creations. Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps is sponsoring this week's challenge and one lucky stamper will win two Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.

Now, I love pink and brown so I used this yummy sparkly paper, which I've had a long time, but I love it. I hate to think of when it runs out! Anyway, for my card, I used Lavender the quilter. I hadn't used her yet, but I have a very dear friend who has an upcoming birthday and she is a wonderful quilter. Now I just have to remember to mail it when the time is right!! I coloured Lavender with my Copics and used some Close to Cocoa to frame her and some Regal Rose behind that. My patterned papers are matted onto some Regal Rose and the card base is Close to Cocoa. I added some brown stretchy ribbon given to me by my DD and some Prima Flowers and mini roses in the corner of my card. I stamped the Birthday Wishes and punched it out with my Modern Labels Punch, then sponged it with Regal Rose ink. Oh, and I added a little Stardust Stickles to her eyelids.

Well, I hope to be back on Saturday for the next Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge. Hmmm, wonder what it could be?!!

Blessings,
Diana
