Actually, it's a cool story, at least I think it is, so I'm gonna bore you with it. When I went to Liskeard Grammar School in Cornwall, England, there were 4 of us who hung out together. Gill, who is coming today, left school earlier than the rest of us due to tragic family circumstances, having lost her dear Mum when she was 14. Until 4 years ago, the rest of us never heard anything of Gill again till my other close pal Jen, who has kept in touch with me ever since we left school, came across her in a store and recognized her. That was about 5 years ago and the two of them started to meet for coffee quite regularly. During the course of those meetings, Gill told Jen that she often comes to Kincardine, Ont. to stay with her sister-in-law. On her next trip we arranged to meet at a halfway point for a few hours, which was wonderful and then later during Gill's stay, I drove to Kincardine and surprised her before she flew home again. That was 4 years ago, so it will be great to have Gill come and stay with me for a week of her visit this time. If it hadn't been for Jen 'discovering' Gill, I would never have connected with her again. It's so great that the 3 of us are in touch again.
Okay, if you are bored, I apologize, but I love this story. Now to this week's card. As the title says, our challenge is for our cards to have anything to do with water. Since our Marvelous Michele is the hostess this week, the randomly picked winner will receive whatever stamp she is using on her card. Since it's now only Wednesday, I don't yet know what that is. In fact, I'm not sure if Michele knows either!! Whatever she uses, her card will be fabulous as all her work is. I'm not just saying that, she's amazing!!
Anyway, I used Kraftin' Kimmie's 'Dolly the Dolphin' from the June Release. I have been wanting to colour her up as I think she's just adorable. Dolly is a new creation from our Kimmie's newest artist Emilie Goulet. I love her quirky style.
I coloured Dolly with my Copics, cut her out and embossed her with my square Nesties, then pierced around the outside of the cardstock. I matted her onto Pumpkin Pie, then onto a frame made with my Lacy Squares Nesties. I used Baja Breeze for that. I pop dotted the image layer onto some Paper Studios 'A Day at the Beach', then onto a border of Baja Breeze, which I then attached to a card base of Pumpkin Pie. I added 3 flowers down the side, added some B. Breeze taffeta ribbon with a shell charm attached to the knot. I finished up with the Mermaid Sentiment 'Swimming By to Say Hi!'.
Well, I have to leave shortly for the 3 hour trip to Toronto, so that's it. Don't forget to send in your creations to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog after you have checked out all the creations from the rest of the Krafty Girls!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Blessings,
Diana

ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Gill next week!
Wow - what an amazing story, Diana! I hope you and Gill have a wonderful visit. As someone who moved around a lot as a kid, I'm always a bit envious of those who are still in touch with their childhood friends, someone who knows you in all your fullness and vice versa. And how wonderful for not only your group of friends, but for Gill, too, that she was recognized in that store! I'm sure it's enriched her life so much.
ReplyDeleteYour Dolly card is a beaut, too - lots of lovely details!
