Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge. #89! No embellishments!!!

Yep, you read the title correctly. AAAAAAGH!! I'm glad I'm not the one who set this week's challenge. Just kidding! The wonderfully talented Donna, who is our hostess for this week, gave us this challenge and I was just dreading it. Turns out it was fun, though it sure was challenging. I started out thinking of ways to decorate my card without any ribbon, brads, eyelets, bling, flowers,(eeek, what's left?) and I was doing fine, then without realizing it, I'd lose focus and start thinking that if I added this ribbon or that brad......! Anyway, it really did turn out to be interesting to do and I'm quite happy with the result. Just shows how little you can make a card with if you have to!!

Well, now for some deets. I used the very sweet Kraftin' Kimmie image from the June release, this one is called Friends Are For Hugging. I think this one is so sweet and I love her teddy bear. I coloured the image with my trusty Copics, then doodled some crooked lines around it. I matted it onto some Groovy Guava card stock, then popped it onto a larger frame of Brilliant Blue. The card base is also Groovy Guava, onto which I matted a square of a subtle green paper from the same family I used for the rest of the card, which is Kaisercraft's Tea at Elsie's. I love this little paper pad and I'm happy to find that I must have bought it twice. Sometimes it pays to be losing your memory!!

Sorry, I digress as usual. I matted a beautiful piece of the paper with all the flowers onto the green, then I took another piece of the Tea at Elsie's and made a border to go behind the framed image. I put a piece of the Brilliant Blue onto it, then a narrow strip of Groovy Guava across the centre for more visual interest. I then cut out a few flowers from another piece of the flowery sheet, then placed them on the corners of the framed image. (I checked and it was legal to do that. Phew!!) This image comes with the sentiment 'Friends Are For Hugging', but I used 'Need A Hug?' from Kraftin' Kimmie's Mermaid Sentiments.

So there you go. Now you go to it and see what you can come up with, you will be surprised at what you can do without using any embellishments. Be sure to link up your card to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog so we can check out your creations!! Donna has used Brigitte on her card, so that's the one you have a chance of winning if you participate using a Kimmie stamp.

By the way, just a reminder. Yesterday was Frugal Friday and the specials run until Sunday. The stamps on sale this weeks are Cupcake Cory, Snowshoe Fun, Valentine Willard, Krafty Stamper and Froggie Family. I love the Froggie Family!! Check out these stamps at Kraftin' Kimmie's Shop as they are all 40-50% off. Woo Hoo!! Also, the July Gimme Kimmie Kits are done on Sunday, so if you want one, you have a whole day left.

So happy stamping everyone and I pray you will have a blessed weekend,

Diana

Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge 88. A Sketch!!

Good Saturday morning to all you guys and gals out there. Wow, how about this crazy weather we have been having!! Sure makes me miss the pool we had at our last house. Oh, how I loved that thing, I lived in it.

Anyway, now down to business, well, fun actually!! As you will have seen from the title, we have a sketch for you this week. You will be able to see the actual basic sketch at Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog. I'd make a right mess of things if I tried to stick it on here!!

Well, my card pretty much follows the sketch, so that will give you an idea. Of course, you don't have to be exact anyway, as my DD always tells me, as long as you can see the basic idea, that's alright. I coloured up 'Bookworm Jaime', one of the July Release of Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. Jaime is named for a special little friend of Kimmie's, as most of her stamps are. I think Jaime is just adorable. Wish I'd been that studious when I went to school!! I used a card base of Daffodil Delight, which I also used to frame the Jaime layer. All the rest of the papers were 'Bugs and Butterflies' by TPC Studio. I love all the caterpillars and bugs on the background papers. I used some Tangerine Tango Taffeta Ribbon across the centre, added a couple of buttons in the upper left corner, a flower on the left side of the ribbon and I stamped 'Learning is Fun' on some of the blue PP and put it in the lower right corner.

Now you get to try your hand at the sketch, which by the way is provided by our Terribly Talented Tara and since she has used Tori on her card, that's what you will have a chance of winning when you link up your card to Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge Blog.

Also, did you know that most weeks, Kimmie has Frugal Friday Specials, this week's started yesterday and are available until Sunday. The stamps available are:-

Eleanor, Cannonball Cameron, Brady the Builder, Lavender the Quilter and Party Time. All these stamps are 40-50% off the regular price. Good deal, I'd say!!

Well, I hope you have fun with the sketch and that you have a great weekend.

Blessings,
Diana

Kraftin' Kimmie's July Release, Preview 3! It's getting closer!!

Yippee, it's almost the weekend, Happy Friday everyone! As promised, here we are again with some more Krafty Previews. Today we are showcasing the images of the fabulous Cheryl Alger. This is 'Back to School Mattie'. I just love this little guy, who happens to be named for my darling grandson Matthew, also known as Mattie. Of course he is also Kraftin' Kimmie's nephew. I had great fun colouring him, I even gave him dark brown hair just like Matthew. Isn't he just the cutest? Cheryl has drawn 2 more little back to school people, they are girls. They are gorgeous too and each comes with it's own sentiment, but I wanted to do Mattie this time. Now I can give him this card when he goes back to school.

I used a card base of Bashful Blue and used a layer of Poppy Parade (my favourite shade of red ever). I used a rectangular piece of some Safari Kids paper and matted it onto some more Bashful Blue. I used 3 crayon embellies that I had bought for just this purpose, I pop dotted the Mattie layer onto the left side after cutting it out with my Labels 4 Nesties. I stamped the sentiment 'Learning is Fun', which happens to come with this image, on some more B. Blue, then matted it onto some white for a little more punch against the red. A simple card, but I'm happy with it and I think Matthew will be too.

Once again, all you have to do is leave a comment at each of the blogs of the Krafty Girls who have made a preview card today and tomorrow one lucky winner will get all 3 of the Cheryl Alger stamps. Pretty good deal, I'd say.

Be sure and come back for some more previews tomorrow and then on Sunday for the Krafty Blog Hop as there will be some more winners that day too. Then it will be time to head over to Kraftin' Kimmie's Shop as all the new stamps will be available!! Good times!!

Have a wonderful weekend,

May God Bless you and yours,
Diana

Kraftin' Kimmie's July Release, Preview 2!

Well, as promised we are back again with Sneak Peek 2 of the July Release of Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. Today we are featuring the cute and quirky images of our new artist Emilie Goulet. Her work is so unique and adorable!

For my card, I used Bruce the Barbequing Shark. Is he not the cutest shark you ever saw?!! I coloured him in and cut him out using my Circle Nesties. I framed the layer with my Classic Inverted Scallop Circles, using Kiwi Kiss cardstock. I used Me and My Big Ideas patterned papers for my background. I cut 3 different sizes of 3 of the patterns, framed them on Marigold Morning, Pixie Pink and Kiwi Kiss cardstock, all on another square of the same pack of papers, matted onto some more Pixie Pink and then on a base of Kiwi Kiss. I finished off with a few layers of Prima flowers, with a pink gem brad in the centre, a cute barbecue 'flipper' and some pink GG ribbon with white stitching.

Now don't forget, in order to be in the running to win all 5 Emilie stamps, all you have to do is leave a comment on this blog and to have more chances, leave one at the blogs of each of the Krafty Girls who is featuring a card using an Emilie stamp today.

Have fun and be sure to check us out tomorrow and see who has a card made by yet another of our wonderful artists.

I hope to see you tomorrow,

Ist. Krafty Peek Day for Kraftin' Kimmie's July Release!

Well, as the title says, we are starting our Kraftin' Kimmie Previews today and will continue to do so until Sunday, when all the new Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps will be up on the site and available for sale. I don't know how our artists keep doing it, but I swear their images just keep getting better and better.

Today we are all showcasing a new Sympathy Set. This is a new venture for KKS, but I am really happy about it as I seem to make more sympathy cards than anything else. This set comes with the beautiful flower, which you see here and 8 lovely sentiments. I chose 'Thinking of You in Your Time of Loss'. I coloured the flower with my Copics and used some lovely Linen Closet patterned papers.

I used Kraft card stock for the card base and matted a striped piece of the paper onto it. I put a rectangle of a matching paper in the centre, matting it onto Kraft C.S. Across it, I put a piece of the Kraft C.S. on which I had stamped the sentiment. I popped the flower alongside the sentiment and that's it. Simple, but effective, I think. Now we want you all to visit all of the Krafty Girls' Blogs and leave a comment at each, for more chances to win this lovely set. I believe the winner will be announced tomorrow, so you'd better get crackin'.

Be sure and come back tomorrow and see what else the Krafty Girls have made for your perusal. There will be a winner then too. What could be better?!!

Have a wonderful day,
Diana

Tag, you're it!! Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge 86!!

Well, hello and good Saturday morning to all you happy stampers out there. I'm afraid I'm late getting my post done this week as I forgot to do it, yikes!! Good thing the boss is my daughter or I might get my walking papers, lol!!

Anyway, our hostess this week is the aforementioned Kraftin' Kimmie herself, my DD. Kimmie would like us all to make some kind of tag, whether it be on our cards or instead of a card or whatever tickles your fancy. The stamp Kimmie is using on her adorable tag is Becky Broadsword and if you happen to be the randomly chosen winner with your tag, you will win her plus two more Steven Leary images. Also, in case you don't know, Kimmie now has Frugal Friday Specials and they will be available until Sunday, so be sure to check them out.

For my tag/card, I used a quote from the Krafty Quotes #3 set. I hadn't used this one before, but I love it. A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle. Of course I don't believe it personally, but I love to say those kinds of things for fun, who doesn't?!! I used some Daisy D's 'Maybe Baby Valentine' papers. The reason for that is that I just happened to have some matching tags that a very special friend gave me some time ago (thanks Connie) and I thought they were perfect. I doodled around the edge of the quote and adhered it to the cute paisley tag and popped it onto some more of the papers. My cardstocks are retired Mauve Mist and Cranberry Crisp. What will I do when I run out of my retired colours? I used some matching yarn on the tag, put some cranberry and cream flowers in the top right corner and some matching buttons at the bottom. This was a fun card to make, now I'm ready to use the rest of those cute tags.

So there you go, now what are you going to do for your tag, card or whatever you decide to do?

Happy stamping,

Blessings,
Diana

Oh, I almost forgot!! Next week start looking for some Kraftin' Kimmie Preview cards starting on Wednesday. Next Sunday will be our July Release Day and you won't be disappointed. Right now I don't know which stamps to play with first!!
